Josep Alorda Roca, born in Mallorca in February 1997, has just finished his bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication (2020). In 2017, he made his first documentary report starring a boy with severe mobility issues. This documentary, titled “Ángel, el pequeño guerrero”, won the 7th Alberta Giménez Journalism Award for the best audiovisual social report. Alorda has worked as a photography assistant in short films such as “Nada” and “Mamá”, which were selected for the Atlàntida Film Fest 2019. In the 2020 edition of this same festival, he had the opportunity to participate as a cameraman, and also in the advertising and marketing of the documentary film “Destrucció Creativa d’una Ciutat”, directed by Carles Bover (winner of a 2019 Goya Award with “Gaza”). In addition to this, he has co-directed the collective short film “Confinament 8½”, selected for the Atlàntida Film Fest 2020 as well. Throughout his university career, Alorda has been a volunteer intern as a cameraman in Informatius IB3 (Balearic Island’s autonomous TV channel) and as a graphic designer in Coent (branding agency). Nowadays, he is part of the versatile communication department of the RCD Mallorca (football team, La Liga), where he plans, directs and films videos, advertisements, reports, and even documentaries, besides taking care of some of the graphic design tasks for the club. Moreover, this young entrepreneur —together with some close classmates— has undertaken a new promising project: the audiovisual production company Born Films (@born_films). There, they take care of advertising for business companies and some personal projects which include short films and music videos. Lastly, it is important to highlight that, on a personal level, Alorda is a huge fan of the filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu’s works.
